ABOUT US
Store Closure
From Saturday 2nd of May our 117 St Johns Hill, SW11 1SZ branch will be closing.
Our Croydon store will continue to operate as normal and will handle all existing orders, installations, and new enquiries. All of our installation teams remain unchanged, so you can be assured there will be no difference in the quality of service you receive. We will also continue to honour all existing quotations.
This has not been an easy decision. We have been proud to serve the SW11 and surrounding areas for almost 70 years, from our Northcote Road store and, since 2010, our St Johns Hill location.
The decision has been influenced by a combination of factors, including recent health considerations and rising operating costs.
We will continue to offer home visits to discuss your flooring requirements, including bringing samples and providing the same expert advice and wide product range you are accustomed to. You can contact us by telephone or email using the details below.
We would like to sincerely thank you for your valued support and custom over the years. We look forward to continuing to serve you from our Croydon location and introducing you to both our existing and exciting new product ranges.

History
We were founded in 1939 by Jack Crow with a trolley on Electric Avenue in Brixton. We grew to become Direct House Hold Supplies Stores and as the name suggests we traded in everything household related including carpet and flooring. We formed into a limited company in 1954 as J.Crow & Sons. In 1973 we became Capitol Carpets and focused exclusively on carpet and flooring.
Over the years we have had stores in Orpington, Sheen and Catford to name a few expanding and down scaling with the changing times. Over the years we have endured wars, recessions and more recently a pandemic. In 2007 we incorporated A.J. Lawmans Carpets and Flooring into the Capitol Carpets family.
